The 2018 Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show was a great 3 days out with many worthwhile market booths and activities for all to enjoy. There were many fine breeds of sheep on show with stiff competition in the judging arena.
Following the showing of the Wiltshire Horn breed it was time for the Wiltipolls. But before official judging could commence, the showing floor had be swept by our stewards, which was expertly done (thanks to our President and Secretary/Treasurer).
Ian and Loris (Reavesdale stud in NSW) and Ray Newman (Muskdale stud in VIC) put on an impressive display of their best sheep with both competitors winning different sections of the competition. Ian and Loris took out Champion Ewe and Supreme Wiltipoll while Ray took out the Champion Ram.
Most impressive was hearing the Judge Nick Lawrence using language like “almost perfect sheep” and “best Wiltipoll I’ve seen” for different sheep in the competition keeping the audience well engaged throughout the judging.
We held our AGM in a function room in the pavilion after the showing, with plenty of new ideas being thrown around and more improvements on the way over the next few months.
We will be having our end of year gathering and general meeting in November with details to follow closer to the date.
I hope that your lambing is going well and you have an abundant year ahead.
